Fundación PRODIS conducts its activities through specific projects where are set the objectives and beneficiaries, the budget and timetable for implementation.

‘Promentor’ Project

  •  Project that offers a new training model, in the scope of university, for young   people with intellectual disabilities.  
  • It is developed in collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid.
  •  Collaborating companies that support and promote the employability of this group of people.
  • Two years of academic training and subsequent protection in the workplace thanks to mediators of Fundación Prodis.
  • Continuous Training Center to continue the training of young people already working.
  • First class graduated in June 2007.
  • ABC PRIZE

 

Literacy method "Read with Pipe"

  • Creation and implementation of a method to teach reading and writing to children with intellectual disabilities
  •  Development of a computer program which collects all the materials of the method to facilitate their diffusion.
  •  Preparation of three reading books for the different stages of learning and handbooks for educators
  •  During the year 2009 have been published 9 reading books and is expected to continue throughout 2010 with the publication of the rest of materials that it is composed

 

 

Music Education Classroom funded by Fundación Barclays

Music is a key area for the integral development of people with intellectual disabilities because it stimulates the senses, encourages communication and allows them to develop different skills.

Thanks to Fundación Barclays, it is funded a Hall of Music Education at school María Corredentora of Madrid. In this classroom, classes are given to 250

students with intellectual disabilities aged between 5 and 20 years. Throughout the school year they organize outings to concerts and dance performances.

 

Training for professionals and parents

  • Funding for conferences and courses for professionals.
  • Creation of schools of parents where it is taught courses of family counseling and the development of social and emotional skills of children at home.
  • Training courses for labor mediators.
  • Training of leisure monitors.

 

Method of social skills

  • Design in 2003 of a method to teach social and behavioral skills to children and young people with intellectual disability and achieve greater social acceptance.
  • The implementation of the program on students in special education school María Corredentora.
  • Edition and publication of the method consists of a handbook for families and a manual for practitioners.
  •  Method acquired through Down España and Editorial CPEE.
